Amy Thompson, Student Counselor
Hello! I am a graduate student at Liberty University working towards my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am currently working on my practicum and receiving supervision from Dr. Andrea Charles. Before returning to school for counseling and psychology, I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Human Resources from the University of Idaho and worked in retail pharmacy and management for almost 20 years.
I believe that counseling is a place to learn more about oneself and discover and explore tools that help overcome obstacles that get in the way of being who we are meant to be. Everyone has purpose and value, and I am passionate about helping others see that in themselves and others. This is a philosophy that I have used practically as a manager, where I coached employees in life and professional goal development, as well as a volunteer at various non-profit organizations, where I have helped young women and parents learn life skills through support groups and class facilitation. As a counselor, I look forward to helping my clients become more self-aware, have compassion for themselves and others, and learn skills to help them meet their goals.
Other things I enjoy include spending time with loved ones, traveling, trying new things, reading, and going to concerts. I love learning and am passionate about living life as presently as possible.
