Supervision is a relationship. Finding the right fit matters just as much as finding the right therapist.
with Dr. Andrea Charles, LICSW, DSW
Many people believe that supervision is supervision and it does not matter if you fit with the supervisor or not. However, just like therapy, you have to find a supervisor that you connect with and share the same or similar values.
Dr. Charles has been a clinical supervisor since 2015. She takes a laid-back, relational approach to supervision — one that centers you as the therapist. She particularly enjoys supervising clinicians interested in opening their own private practice and knows how insurance works and the ins and outs of group practice.
She asks that supervisees meet at least twice a month and send a brief agenda a day or two before each session so she can do any research ahead of time. Because supervising future clinicians carries increased responsibility, Andrea asks to do a brief video consult before agreeing to supervise.
