Natalie Herranen

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate · Dragonfly Counseling

Hi! I'm Natalie.

I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Washington University. I completed my practicum and internship at Dragonfly Counseling, under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Charles. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Human Development from Washington State University in 2019. Prior to pursuing the counseling profession, I spent several years serving my community in victim advocacy and case management roles.

My clinical focus is serving adults aged 18 and older who have experienced trauma, complex trauma, anxiety, attachment wounds, challenges with self-criticism, and neurodivergent-related stressors. My practice is grounded in Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), which draws from a variety of evidence-based theories, such as evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness to help clients to develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves. In addition to CFT, I incorporate components of Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT) and person-centered approaches. I completed Weekend 1 of EMDR therapy basic training and currently offer EMDR therapy to clients when clinically appropriate, while completing ongoing training. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals impacted interpersonal violence, such as sexual violence, domestic violence, past childhood abuse or neglect, hate crimes, and emotional abuse. My specific clinical interests include PTSD, borderline personality disorder (BPD), anxiety disorders, OCD, dissociative identity disorder (DID), ADHD and/or Autism, and the intersection of mental health and chronic illness.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy singing, reading, caring for my pet fishes, soaking up the sunlight, and spending time with friends.
